Emergency Shelter & Job Training

The Challenge…

Charlie and his wife hit a rough patch and landed in Action Inc.’s emergency shelter in Gloucester.

The Solution…

Through Action’s Job Training and Career Services program, Charlie enrolled in New England Tractor Trailer Training School, NETTTS.  He attended the training while staying in the shelter. After graduating, the team helped with resume writing, building an Indeed profile, and providing referrals to local companies hiring drivers.  In January, he landed a great job, making over living wage, with great benefits, at a global waste management company.  “Trash, yeah, it’s smelly and disgusting work, but it’s also essential.  I am essential to communities.  I love having a job that is helpful to communities.”

“Action opened the door to getting this skill. It’s a totally different interview when you have a skill. I had to put in the work, but it was well worth it because of the support I got at Action.”
