Warm Clothing Program
The Challenge…
A working couple of a family of four with two school age children called Berkshire Community Action Council (BCAC); their rent had quadrupled in the past six months. The change in expenses forced them to see additional assistance to keep their children warm for winter.
The Solution…
Through the Elf Warm Clothing Program, the parents were able to shop at BCAC’s Children’s Winter Boutique at no cost and chose warm jackets, boots, and winter accessories for their children. The children had a great holiday and were clothed for winter.
As Community Action Agencies always do, BCAC looks for other ways to help and team suggested the family apply for fuel assistance. The application was approved. They also took advantage of free tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and were able to access the tax credits due to them.
